I think it's time.
...and I've said it before, but this time, I really mean it---I think.
There are SO many things going on in our life right now. Some exciting, some scary, some blah...I should really get back into documenting them; especially since it's not all hum-drum anymore.
I guess I will just get down to business!
The number 1 thing weighing on my mind right now is the fact that we will be leaving in 4.5 months, for 4 months, to live down south. While this is very exciting (I can't wait to eat the food down there!), I'm nervous. I'm scared of the initial 12 hour road trip down, with two kids 3 and under, BY MYSELF, in the car. I'm hoping it won't be so bad since we plan on dividing the trip into quarters so everyone can get out, stretch, play a little, eat, etc before we get back in the car. We plan on stopping half way and getting a hotel over night. I hate to waste the money, but honestly, I don't think I'll be in the right frame of mind to make the drive in one day. I wish I was stronger in that aspect than I am.
Pros:
He'll get sent away for long periods of time (and then what if we're across the country, just me and the kids, all by ourselves?), he'll work long days, in the freezing cold, rains, ice, heat....I'm afraid he is going to turn into a miserable person. Cranky because he's tired...that I'm not going to have anyone to go to with my needs, my lonesomeness, my fears. Yes, he'll be making lots of money, but so what? It's not going to help if you're life is miserable or if you get killed. I just hate this. He's miserable now. Our family is not what I thought it would be...something has to change and this is what he wants. I'm just so torn up about it. I know I just need to let it all go and give it to the Lord and know that his life and our life is in His hands...Im struggling.

In other news,
the backyard is going to be amazing this year. I'm so excited to go out there with the kids and enjoy it! We filled the sandbox out there (which both kids love!) and it's not on the icky porch this year! We bought the outdoor table/chairs from our neighbor that was moving and positioned it in the back where we can sit while the kids play and listen to the creek.
I'm almost done painting all the woodwork in the hallway--just some touch up need to be down and to put the second coat down on the floor. Then color will go up on the walls, some trim around the doors, and a light downstairs. This project has been a looooooooong time coming.
The guy is supposed to be here any day (last week, actually haha) to sand the icky front porches. I have to pick a floor color--the rest of the facade will be repainted in the existing color. It's going to make a HUGE difference and I will be so happy not to be embarrassed about it anymore.
My small group will be starting in a few weeks. I recently made some new friends through my business (which is going well, it's really exciting for me!) who will be coming, and some other people will be bringing friends with them. I got so much out of the book; I hope others enjoy it as much as I did. I pray that it's a blessing and a life-giving time for everyone. I don't do well hosting events so I hope it wont take such a toll on me!
The kids are doing great. 3 has been really, really hard. Recently, though, Judah has been doing better. I'm wondering if it has to do with the weather being nicer and more opportunities to get out, do different things, and expel some energy. He's really interested in learning to spell words, tell time, and out together puzzles. He's OBSESSED with his trains still (best $65 we've ever spent!) and I love listening to him play. He makes the trains talk to one another, interact with their surroundings, etc. It's great. He also has an imaginary dog named Sput (or sometimes, Spot). He takes him places, carries his leach like he's really walking him...I even saw him "tie" him up outside yesterday. Sput is very real to him. He's a firehouse dog, he says.
Aylah is still waking up way too much at night and is killing me. On the (rare) nights she only wakes up once or twice, we're all soooo much happier. She's got great coordination and balance and started walking just a few days before her birthday. It's so funny to see her cruising around--Jared thinks she walks like a neanderthal HA! She loves to give kisses and will grab the sides of you head to ensure she can lay one on you! She hugs by wrapping one arm around your neck and the other around your arm. She has a really sweet, happy go lucky personality. She likes to laugh. She likes to push anything with wheels--likes to put things into containers. She freaks out when she sees a banana because she wants it. She loves butternut squash, too, cheerios...She's still nursing but her latch is terrible now and she's just so busy that she is either doing acrobatics or pulls off to get down to go do something else. She doesn't seem to be too keen on being worn much any more. She gets a HUGE kick out of riding in the basket of the cart--she loves it.
We've finally got both kids on a 9:00 bedtime routine and it's been awesome! Judah has been waking up for the day anywhere between 7-8...Im thinking it's because he's in underwear over night and he wakes up having to go to the bathroom. I still try to get him to nap because some days he reallllllllly needs it. Other days he just doesnt want to. His nap is typically somewhere from 3/4-6:00 range and most days I have to go and wake him up because he wants to keep sleeping. Aylah's nap is about 2 hours, in the afternoon, between 1 & 3.
Well, that's all for now!

Pros:
- Our rental house is bigger than where we currently live
- A non-commitment opportunity to live in a whole other culture for a time
- It will be exciting to explore the area, learn about the people, see how other's live, find a new church, meet new friends...
- Hopefully we'll finally be able to spend some time together as a family. We never get weekends together now and we're lucky if we get Sundays all together. Jared's "typical" school week will be 4 days/ week
- Jared has been waiting SO LONG for this. I hope to see him enjoy life more going for something that he's been wanting to do
- I feel like I'm going to be left on my own to figure it all out for me and the family. Jared will be focused on school so I'm going to have to step out of my comfort zone and do things just me and the kids if I want to make memories in the short time while we're down there
- The fact the the school is SUPER dangerous--not to mention the career path he is headed towards. I can't stop thinking about it and am so, SO scared.
- I'm afraid I'm going to be lonely. It'd be one thing if I was lonely without kids...but being lonely and have to take care of the littles with no break either...sounds stressful
- Jared is hoping to accept a job offer before graduation. We always talked about coming back here and he would work with another contractor until something in his new field opened up. It was definitely a bomb dropped on me when I found out that that most likely won't be the case. It's really bothering me that I might have to come home and pack up our house by myself.....I finally am starting to feel settled in our life. Since Judah's birth, and even more so after Aylah, I've developed such a strong network of friends...support systems. We're finally getting to the point where we can do things to the house to make it look like we actually care about it. I love our church so much. My family, as crazy as they are, are all close. I don't want my kids to grow up without their cousins, either.

New top tooth (her 3rd tooth) and new mode of transportation. She's LOVING walking with her little cart. She's so proud and laughs the whole time! :)
